Back then, I huddled underneath my flower print sheets with a flashlight, a number 2 pencil, and my trusty journal long after my bedtime to scratch out the stories that just had to be told. Many things have changed during my life, but my passion for writing has not. I have tons of journals to prove it - please just don't ask me how many - it's embarrassing!

I write to discover how I feel, to think, and to dream. I write to talk to God and pray. I also write to clear out the junk so I can listen to God. I write to see the swirling, abstract thoughts in my mind become tidy, concrete words. Freedom comes to me by meeting God through black words on white paper.

I'm a regular contributor at Grit & Virtue and have written for Bella Grace Magazine, Thryve Magazine, Make Room for Advent (Naptime Diaries Advent Devotional), Let It Be (Amen Paper Company Advent Devotional), Tranquility du Jour Anthology, and 52 Weeks of Tranquility. I (try to) blog regularly, and I also muse as a guest writer on blogs all around the world wide web.

I'm presently working on my first nonfiction book revealing how God transformed my heart by giving me an extravagant encounter with his grace and peace on the cobblestone streets of Paris and how that same grace and peace can completely transform your life, too.

Everyone. Even if you don't consider yourself a writer I double-dog dare you to sit down with a piece of paper or at your computer, set a timer for at least ten minutes, and just start writing. You may be amazed at what flows out of you.

Want a few writing prompts to get you started? Okay, no problem!

  • What is the most difficult lesson you ever learned?
  • If you could wake up tomorrow and do anything you wanted, without anything holding you back, what would you do?
  • Where are you feeling stuck? Dream up five ways God could move {even if it feels "impossible"} and scribble it down in prayer.

  • Pretend your favorite magazine is going to interview you. What 5 questions would you like them to ask? Go ahead and answer them - it's your time to shine and tell the readers exactly who you are and what you're all about.
